Shihan John Grad Godan (5th Degree)

Senior instructor, John Grad Sensei became involved in Karate when a fellow teacher introduced him to the program at the Edmonton Yoseikan Karate Club in 1986. He started his training in karate at the tender age of 38 under the watchful eye of John Shaw Sensei. At the rank of Godan and with Shihan certification, Grad Sensei is now studying under the guidance of Soke Sensei. He also has extensive training in Iaido (traditional Japanese sword), and other martial weapons. |

Shidoin John Shaw Yondan (4th Degree)
John Shaw began studying Chito Ryu at the Atlantic Karate Club in Halifax, NS in 1970 while attending university. He emigrated to Edmonton in 1975 and trained and taught for many years at the Edmonton Yoseikan Dojo under the direction of Higashi Sensei and Akutagawa Sensei. He has trained at the Hombu dojo in Japan under Chitose O-Sensei and Chitose Soke. His interests are in the self defense aspects of karate techniques. |

Shidoin Jaspal Mundi Sandan (3rd Degree)

Jaspal Mundi Sensei began his training in Chito Ryu Karate at the age of 13. Under the guidance of John Shaw Sensei he was promoted to Shodan by David Akutagawa Sensei in 1991. As a San-dan since January, 2006 continues his training under the guidance of Shihan Grad. Along with an in-depth knowledge of many aspects of martial arts, Mundi Sensei cares deeply for the well-being of all participants and their ability to learn, understand, and express the traditional Japanese teachings of Chito Ryu Karate. He has spent time training directly under Soke Sensei's guidance in Kumamoto, Japan. |

Junshidoin James Shrimpton Sandan (3rd Degree)

James Shrimpton Sensei started karate under the careful instruction of Bob Wilber Sensei of the Satewin Karate Club. He attained the rank of Shodan through David Akutagawa Sensei, and Junshidoin, Ni-dan, San-dan under the guidance of Kyoshi Higashi. |
