Are you at the dojo all the time
but never get a chance to train for yourself? Starting Saturday, January 28th,
Shihan John Grad invites you to the Yoshinkan Karate Dojo (10042 - 80
Ave) on the last Saturday of each month to train with your fellow
Yudansha members.
These relatively
informal classes will run from 9:30 - 11am and allow you to train with your
peers. We plan to divide the classes according to rank and give you an
opportunity to practice & learn at your own pace. The usual $5 drop
in rate for ACK members will apply. So, get yourself into training mode
& join us!
Ever think about taking a weapons
class to complement your empty hand training? In addition to the Monday night
(6-7:30pm) and Saturday morning (8-9:30am) weapons classes at the Dojo,
the Ryukyu Kobujutsu Hozon Shinko Kai
Association is holding a 2 day clinic in the beautiful Rocky Mountain
setting of Canmore, AB.
On Saturday,
February 4 Sensei Michael Symington & Sensei Yee Ngan
will offer instruction from 9am - 3pm. On Sunday, February 5 special
guest instructor Sensei Dr. Paul E. Zehr
(Yondan) will lead the full day training session.
Accommodations
may be booked at one of many hotels, motels, bed & breakfasts in
town. Or for the budget conscious, Mayor (Sensei) Ron Casey has graciously
offered the dojo floor for a communal stay (bring your own sleeping
mattress, bag & pillow). Fees will be $20.00 for members and
newcomers are welcome at the low cost of $30.00 for 2 days of training!
Kyoshi Higashi will be in Calgary for our Spring Clinic from Saturday,
May 13 to Sunday, May 14. This great learning opportunity will hosted by the Calgary Chito Ryu Karate Club (Clinic
address to be announced shortly).
Fees for Alberta
Chito Kai members will be $10 per day or $15 for the clinic for individuals
and $15 per day or $25 for the clinic for families. The schedule is
expected to be slightly different from other clinics. Friday will only be for those that are
participating in Yudansha gradings, Saturday for
all members, Sunday morning for all members and Sunday afternoon for
Yudansha members only. Additional details will be announced closer to the
date.

members from Canada & internationally to join us
in celebrating our 26th anniversary in the stunning Rocky Mountains!

will soon be updated to include all the details, fees and registration
process for this year's clinic. Visit www.albertachitokai.com
for additional details as they become available. Start booking your
accommodations now as Canmore is a worldwide destination for summer
travel.
This year's
clinic will be similar to last year where everyone trains together for
the majority of the day followed by a breakout session for those
interested in training in specific areas and ending with a yudansha only session at the end of each day.
Monday's schedule will depend on the level of interest in the new bogu tournament and the banquet will likely be held
on Saturday night.
For the first
time, we are planning to have a Bogu Tournament
on the last day of the clinic. Depending on the interest, this
tournament may run all day on Monday, July 24 or perhaps just in the
afternoon. So, dust off your bogu equipment and
start practicing. This will be a great opportunity to prepare yourself or
your students for Soke Cup!
Always wanted to visit or train
in Japan? Why not go this year and join
Chito Ryu members from around the globe to celebrate our auspicious 60th
Anniversary!

part of the scheduled fun & festivities from August 24th to August
30th in and around the Honbu Dojo in Kumamoto, Japan. This will be a rare opportunity
to meet & train with your fellow Chito Ryu Karateka from around the
world and be part of an extraordinary event. Book your tickets &
