Yoshinkan
Dojo Students Saved themselves nearly $200 in dojo fees
on the first Grocery Card Order! |
|
Order
your Grocery cash cards by December 19/07 and start
saving!
On
our last order, we generated dojo fee Savings to
Students which totaled nearly $200 between 8
students. Some students generated enough Savings
to have FREE Karate classes!! You can get involved
as well by ordering prepaid grocery cards for your
family & friends through the
dojo.
As
a value added way for members to save on their dojo
fees, Yoshinkan Karate Dojo is organizing
& administering a systematic way for you to
order prepaid cash cards from Sobey's and Safeway which
will return a 5% credit (for the amount you buy) towards
your dojo fees and dojo
merchandise.
By
participating you can save as much as your total fees
every month and also have credits for purchases toward
merchandise and also help the dojo meet ongoing
operational expenses. You don't have to do
anything different other than to purchase these prepaid
cards and you can save 5% (for the amount you buy)
towars your fees. Everyone has to eat and you
likely shop at these stores anyways, so why not use
collective purchasing power to help pay your dojo fees
each month.
You
can involve as many friends and family members in this
opportunity and the savings will still flow to you for
your collective purchases. Talk
to one of the Dojo instructors today to ensure you can
get started with our next order. The order &
payment deadline is a bit early this time on December
19/07 due to the upcoming holidays. |

Children’s
Fitness Tax Credit receipts |
|
As
you may already be aware, in 2007 the government had
introduced a tax credit for up to $500 per year (per
child) in fees paid to get your child(ren) involved in
physical fitness programs. The Yoshinkan
Karate Dojo’s Chito Ryu Karate program qualifies under
the guidelines and anyone that has attended at least 8
weeks of classes throughout the 2007 calendar year will
be provided a receipt for tax
purposes.
In
the case of families members, please note that these
receipts can only be issued for the portion of your fees
attributed to your child (after discounts, etc.).
The receipts will be made available to you in the first
4 weeks of January for the 2007 calendar
year.
For
more information about this program or to determine how
this will impact you, please feel free to cut/paste this
link into your web browser and visit:

Annual
$60/person Registration Fees in 2008 |
|
Introduction
of Registration Fees for 2008
As a result
of ever increasing operation costs we have started
introducing Registration Fees to cover fees for
membership in governing bodies which are required
for all members.
These fees are not new, they are currently being paid
out of the existing fee structure. Starting
January 1, 2008 all members will be required to
pay an annual registration fee of $60/student to
cover these external expenses.
Membership organizations
that you belong to as a result of these fees
are Karate Alberta, National Karate
Association, Alberta Chito Kai, Canadian Chito Kai
Association & International Chito Ryu Karate
Federation. These are
valuable to all members for the purposes of subsidized
clinics throughout the year for students and instructors
, subsidies available for participation
into local, regional, national and international
competitions and affiliated training programs, as
well as low cost group liability insurance for Dojo
members.
Starting
January 1, 2008 all kyu belt members will have $60
per year added to their January fees. Any
members joining throughout the year will be required to
pay a pro-rated amount calculated as $5 per
month for each month remaining in the calendar year from
the month they join the Dojo.
This
fee cannot be paid on a monthly basis because we are
required to pay the governing organizations for the
entire time remaining in the year regardless of
whether a member continues to come to class, or if they
decide to take the summer off, or if they are a drop in
student.
Also,
no family
discount can be applied to this portion
of your Dojo fees as the
governing organizations do not offer family discounts as
you may be receiving from the Dojo. Also, these
organizations do not discern between children, youth or
adults.
if
you have any questions or want to find out how you
can take advantage of the many programs available
as a member of these organizations please contact any of
your instructors.
You can start utilizing some of these benefits by
attending the upcoming ACK Clinic in May/08 in
Calgary. Details TBA. |
|
Next
ACK Clinic in Calgary in May/08 |
|
These
clinics are paid either fully paid or subsidized by your
membership in the Alberta Chito Kai Association.
The next ACK clinic will be held in Calgary at Sensei
Gary Sabean’s new dojo in Northwest Calgary in May/08 so
keep checking these newsletters for clinic dates or
visit the website for our provincial
association www.albertachitokai.com
and look under the "Events" section. |
